Last year our team attended the SEA Makerspace Summit, an initiative by the SG Makers Association in Singapore. It was not only a great opportunity to get to know other makerspaces in the region, but it was also the foundation of a network: the SEAMNET, the network of South East Asia Makerspace.
This year, the Makerspace Summit will take place in Singapore in October 2016. But bringing together the makers in the region for a conference isn’t enough. Leading to the conference, the network is organizing a series of Makerthons through out the region in 10 different cities. The topic of this year SEA Makerthon is Circular Economy. In other words, we challenge makers to “Design a world with zero waste“.
Fablab Saigon is proud and happy to be the local organizer for Ho Chi Minh City. This is exactly the kind of activities and events we run to work with the community, encourage grassroot innovation, promote the maker movement. The topic is also one we strongly believe in: the circular economy is the future, and the makers can be challenged to make it happen and becoming change makers.
The event will take place on Sunday 26th of June, and will be hosted at our venue partner CFVG Business School.
Winners of the competition will have a chance to attend the finale in Singapore in October 2016, along with the InnovAsean conference and the SEA Makerspace Summit.
